제목 Hydrophobic organic-inorganic nanocomposite from modified zirconia with silane coupling agent for and highly refractive films
초록 Optical materials have attracted attention because they have potential applications as prism films, diffusion films. Recently ZrO2 have been received much attention because of their excellent high refractive index, hardness. But ZrO2-mixed organic resin is difficult to coat on film uniformly, because ZrO2 particles are hard to disperse in organic resin due to their hydrophilicity. Therefore, the surface modification of zirconia with hydrophobic agent is essential for dispersing ZrO2 uniformly into the organic resin.
In this study, ZrO2 nanoparticles are prepared from zirconium n-propoxide and then modified silane coupling agent. The zirconia particles consisted of intrinsic ZrO2 crystallite and 5-10 nm sizes. The modified zirconia show good chemical bonding between ZrO2 and silane coupling agents so, dispersion property improved before modifying. The refractive index for sample containing modified zirconia shows high refractive index which is higher than that of before modified sample.
