제목 Adsorption mechanism of ultra-low concentration sulfur in CH4 on zeolites in the presence of CO2
초록 Various fuel gas sources such as natural gas, biogas, and syngas need to remove unacceptable pollutants and poisoning components. The applications of fuel cells require less than 1 ppm of sulfur in fuel. The removal of high-concentration H2S with/without other impurities in natural gas has been studied intensively. However, since the removal of sulfur components under 5 ppm is insufficiently reported even though the removal mechanism at a trace concentration condition is practically important. However, the experiments and analysis at removing a trace component is still challenging in the adsorption field.In this study, the breakthrough experiments were conducted using 4 ppm of H2S and THT balanced with CH4 in the bed packed by zeolites 5A and 13X. Additionally, the breakthrough experiments using the ternary mixture including CO2 were carried out to elucidate the effect of impurity on the removal of sulfur components from natural gas. The results clearly showed the different adsorption behavior between two adsorbates and revealed the influence of CO2 on sulfur removal in the ultra-low concentration region.
