In this paper, CNC were prepared by hydrolysis and the hydrolysis was performed at 45 °C, using 64wt % sulfuric acid at two acid-to-pulp ratios for two reaction times.The surface morphology and optical properties of CNC extracted from raw materials are investigated by X-ray diffraction(XRD), Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FT-IR), particle charge detector(PCD)and atomic force microscopy(AFM). AFM photograph showed that cellulose nanocrystal was significantly rod-like particle with 100-600nm in length and 1-30 nm in diameter. FT-IR analysis results showed that cellulose nanocrystal had the same characteristic functional groups as cellulose pulp. And it was showed that intramolecular hydrogen bond association effects of cellulose nanocrystal were partly destroyed. The crystallinity of cellulose nanocrystal was increased from 63.7% to 82.4%, compared to cellulose pulp. |
