We have developed a virus based on structurally coloured nanostructure that can sensitively and selectively detect minute EDC concentrations. These structurally coloured nanostructure exhibit distinctive angel-independent colors due to the formation of regular virus bundle structures through simple pulling technique. By adjusting the concentration of the virus solution and the pulling speed, this can create any number of color bands. The M-13 bacteriophage, genetically engineered to react with specific EDCs, typically PCBs and phthalates. Surface of M-13 bacteriophage (pVIII major coat protein) decorated with benzene derivative binding peptides through phage library method. In the initial process, virus based color sensor was exposed to several organic chemicals. Noteworthy, all measurements were analyzed through principal component analysis (PCA) and linear discrimination analysis (LDA), and showed clear discrimination ability upon exposure to 2 categories of EDCs. |
