제목 The Dispersibility of TiO2 (HPPLTed) in Media of Low Dielectric Constant for Electrophoretic Image Display Device (EPID) Materials
초록 The dispersion of hydrophilic TiO2 particle prepared using the homogenous precipitation process (HPPLT) in organic media was studied to evaluate the effect of dispersion quality (i.e., zeta potential) on application of electronic paper (E-paper) pigment material. The dispersibility of TiO2 (HPPLTed) in organic media is determined by colloidal stability (electrostatic and steric) mechanism from DLVO theory. Through background studies of a commercially used dispersant, OLOA 1200 dispersant was chosen as the dispersant for electrophoretic properties on various concentrations from 0.1w% to 5wt%. As a result of strong interaction between the amine end group of OLOA 1200 and the hydroxyl group on the surface of the TiO2, dispersants minimize attractive force between colloidal particles. At dispersant level of about 1wt% of the TiO2 and 10 minutes sonification, a good zeta potential was obtained.
