제목 | A study on the EDLC electrochemical characteristics by oxidation treatment of carbon nanotubes electrode |
초록 | Acetylene and hydrogen gas mixture was employed for the synthesis of CNTs on stainless steel plates (Type304) by RF power plasma enhanced chemical vapor deposition (PECVD). Substrates were polished, etched in HF solution and treated with hydrogen plasma before the growth of CNTs by PECVD. Typical reaction time of H2 plasma was 5min. and C2H2 to H2 ratio was 1:30. CNTs synthesized under these condition were used as electrodes for EDLC either without or with oxidation treatment. Oxidation treatment was 480∼510℃, O2 to N2 ratio 5:95. Loss of CNTs mass by oxidation could be controlled by oxidation treatment duration. Charge/discharge characteristics of the fabricated EDLC showed that specific capacitance of EDLC was about 60F/g without oxidation treatment. But specific capacitance increased to about 95F/g with oxidation treatment (CNTs mass loss : 5∼20%). Specific efficiency of EDLC was about 65% without oxidation treatment, but it increased to about 95% with oxidation treatment. However, excessive oxidation resulted in severe loss of CNTs mass thereby lowering specific capacitance considerably. |
