제목 | Expanded solar absorption spectrum to improve photoelectrochemical oxygen evolution reaction: Synergistic effect of upconversion nanoparticles and ZnFe2O4/TiO2 |
초록 | The key to increasing photocatalyticactivity is to maximize solar spectrum utilization and minimize therecombination of photosynthetic carriers. As a photoanode and photocatalyst, TiO2possesses the outstanding ability of photoconversion using the UV light. Toimprove solar absorption efficiency, we designed a new heterojunctionphotoelectrode using zinc ferrite that absorbs visible light and upconversionnanoparticles (UCNP) that absorbs near-infrared light and emits visible light. UCNP-decoratedZnFe2O4/TiO2 photocatalyst was fabricated by drop-castingZFO nanoparticles and UCNPs onto TiO2 nanopillars grown on a transparentfluorine-doped tin oxide (FTO) substrate. The applied bias photon-to-current efficiencyof UCNP-ZFO/TiO2 was 4.1 times higher than that of TiO2, and its photoanode had the lowest chargetransfer resistance and highest charge density among the preparedphotoelectrodes. |
