제목 Characterization of pH-sensitive Upper Critical Solution Temperature(UCST) Materials, N-sulfopropylated-PEI, in Water
초록 Thermosensitive materials consist of two general types; one of them is lower critical solution temperature exhibiting phase separation above a certain temperature and the other is upper critical solution temperature exhibiting phase separation below a certain temperature. Because of their special characteristic of hydrophilic-hydrophobic changes, those materials have been used in the various fields. However, UCST materials have not been much paid the attention as much as LCST materials in academic and industrals. Therefore we introduced UCST properties into an b-PEI by a simple sulfopropylation. We measured the phase transition temperatures of PS-PEI derivatives in distilled water using UV-vis spectrophotometer and drew the phase diagram based on phase transition temperatures. We also checked the effect of pH changes on phase transition temperature. For future applications in the biomedical field, the cytotoxicity of PS-PEI was examined by MTT assay.
