Hyperbranched polymer (HBP) is a multi-branched polymer similar to dendrimers. This is spotlighted recently because synthesis process is very easy and convenient compared to dendrimers. In this protocol 1,1,1-Tris (hydroxymethyl) propane as an initiator was partially deprotonated with potassium methoxide solution and glycidol as a monomer undergone the ring-opening multi-branching polymerization. Furthermore, HBP reacted with boric acid and produced hyperbranched polymer-boric acid. The elastic segment is synthesised by urethane reaction of Polytetramethylene ether glycol with 4,4’-Methylenebis(cyclohexyl isocyanate), which is further conjugated with HBP-ba. The designed polymers self-assemble into a hard–soft microphase-separated system, combining the enhanced stiffness and toughness of nanocomposites with the self-healing capability of dynamic supramolecular assemblies. Fabricated Self-healing elastomer was characterised by using NMR and IR spectroscopy. |
