A large number of diesel engines are being replaced by natural gas engines to reduce the emission of pollution. However, unburned methane is emitted from natural gas vehicles. The catalytic combustion of methane is one of the most effective methods for reducing methane emission. Currently, Pd-based noble metal catalysts are the most active catalysts for the reaction. However, the volatile price of noble metal limits their industrial application. Therefore, optimization of Pd phase is important for synthesizing highly active catalyst with low Pd loading. Recently, several researchers reported that the state of Pd is highly dependent on the preparation method. However, there is no previous research studying the effect of Pd precursor in the methane combustion reaction. In this work, Pd/CeO2 catalysts were prepared using different Pd precursors. The effect of the Pd precursor on the Pd state and catalytic activity was investigated with various characterization techniques. |
