Frictional drag in ships is prevailing component of ship resistance and accounts for about 80% in the case of bulky ships. Marine fouling is one of the main sources of frictional drag resistance and is the accumulation of micro and macro organisms on immersed surfaces which lead to economic, environmental problem. In other to reduce fractional drag of the vessel, this study developed SPC resins for fuel saving antifouling paints using Poly(ethylene glycol) (PEG) having a drag-reduction effect. We synthesized SPC resins using Si-acrylate, PEG and other monomers. The structures of the synthesized resins were confirmed using FT-IR and NMR and the drag-reduction effect was evaluated by dynamometer.
