Assembly of a check-patterned CuS-TiO2 film with an electron-rich pool and its use for the photoreduction of carbon dioxide to methane |

A newly designed check-patterned CuS-TiO2 film is introduced to improve the photo-reduction of CO2 to CH4. A facile squeeze method was used to fabricate the check-patterned CuS-TiO2 film with a three-dimensional network microstructure. The synthesized powders of TiO2 and CuS are characterized by XRD, SEM, XPS, UV, PL, CV, CO2-TPD, and the patterned film is also identified by photo current density, AFM, and impedance measurements. The check-patterned CuS-TiO2 film exhibited significantly increased adsorption of CO2 gases on its networked micro structure compared to the pure CuS and TiO2 films, due to the enlarged interfaces between the micro-particles. The check-patterned CuS-TiO2 film exhibited superior photocatalytic behavior and produced 53.2 mmolgcat−1L−1 of CH4 gas after 8 h of reaction. The patterned material is quite promising for use as a photocatalyst for the reduction of CO2 to CH4. |
