제목 Synthesis and characterization of sulfonated poly(arylene ether sulfone)-b-polyimide segmented copolymers as proton exchange membrane for fuel cells
초록 Proton exchange membranes (PEM)s are essential to the operation and advancement of the fuel cell technology as they served as gas separator and the electrolyte for transporting protons from anode to the cathode. During past two years, many researchers have initiated a major effort in preparing new and advanced polymeric materials for PEMs. The current state-of-the-art for PEM 's is Dupont's Nafion, a perfluoro sulfonic acid copolymer, which has some performance limitation including low conductivity at high temperature and high methanol permeation.
The poly(arylene ether sulfone) and 6-membered ring polyimide are well known engineering thermoplastic which exhibit excellent thermal, oxidative and chemical stability.
In this study, we synthesized and characterized of sulfonated poly(arylene ether sulfone)s of controlled molecular weight, which have amine functionalized end group, and also prepared hydrophobic PI -hydrophilic sulfonated poly(arylene ether sulfone) segmented block copolymers. The basic properties as PEM and morphology will be discussed.
