The number of female students in engineering school has been consistently growing. However, the professional counterpart is not increasing proportionally to it and women in engineering field are still minor group. Clearly there exists the gender gap in engineering, and it generates a gap in the workforce leaving out potential talent, leading to a massive social and economic loss in Korea. As a woman in engineering, there are different struggles and some of them are internal. It is expected that such gap can be filled in gradually through a consistent effort and communication within STEM society. We can make it improved by sharing the experience and building solidarity with the community. |
