There are many research about passive smart windows which can selectively adjust sunlight coming in from outside without harming the view. One of the most representative substances for passive smart windows is vanadium dioxide(VO2) with thermochromic properties. In this study, tungsten doped vanadium dioxide(W-VO2) was successfully manufactured from ammonium metavanadate (NH4VO3), ethylene glycol (EG), dodecanol and WOCl4 using polyol method. The crystal structure and thermochromic characteristics of samples were analyzed using XRD, DSC, FE-SEM, EDS, and UV-Vis-NIR spectrometers. The phase transition temperature of W-VO2 in accordance with the EG and dodecanol mole ratio can be observed and the phase transition temperature of W-VO2 has been shown to decrease from 68°C to 51°C as the input content of W increases during W-VO2 synthesis. In addition, the transmittance in the visible light area did not change, but the transmittance in the near-infrared region tended to decrease. |
