제목 | Optimization of α-Co(OH)2/Co3O4 ratio to improve Photocatalytic Hydrogen Evolution Reaction (HER) Performance |
초록 | In this study, α-Co(OH)2 was synthesized by controlling the experimental conditions in an aqueous chemical reaction. By adjusting the synthesis time, the α-Co(OH)2/Co3O4 ratio of the final product could be finely controlled. In addition, the relative value of α-Co(OH)2/Co3O4 decreased as the synthesis time increased through sophisticated analysis using equipment such as XPS, XRD, SEM, and TEM. It was observed that the photocatalytic HER activity also changed according to the α-Co(OH)2/Co3O4 ratio. At 16 h (synthesis time), hydrogen (H2) production was the highest at a value of 31.83 mmol/g·h. Additionally the metal hydroxide had a lower overpotential than oxide, confirming that the HER activity deteriorated as the synthesis time increased. To summarize the results, α-Co(OH)2 was synthesized by controlling the reaction time in an aqueous chemical reaction, and it was found that the synthesis time of 16 hours is the optimal point for α-Co(OH)2/Co3O4 ratio. |
