In this work, a highly efficient and rapid method for removing cationic dyes from aqueous solutions was developed by using polymer based super adsorbents hydrogel. The polymer based hydrogel were prepared by a facile free radical co-polymerization method and characterized by FT-IR, XRD, TGA, FE-SEM and XPS analysis. The effect of parameters such as the initial dye concentration, contact time, pH, and adsorbent dose were investigated to determine the maximum adsorption capacity (Qmax). Adsorption isotherms for cationic dye were based on pseudo-first order models and equilibrium data fitted the Freundlich isotherm model. Polymer based hydrogel shows faster swelling and a greater swelling percentage, which was responsible for the high adsorption capacity (Qmax) of cationic dye in aqueous solution. Super-adsorbent hydrogel's cost-effectiveness, biocompatibility, and environmental friendliness make it a suitable medium for the treatment of waste water. |
