Polypropylene (PP) has been used in a variety of applications for many industries including the automotive industry and packaging consumer products. However, in order to improve the moldability and physical and chemical properties of PP, various additives such as slip agent and UV stabilizer etc. are added to PP base resin. Some of these additives were migrated to the surface of PP which cause quality problems like change of color and whitening under various envinmental conditions. Most PP product often exposures in outside, and it will be directly affected by physical and chemical degradation factors such as strong sunlight and humidity. In this study, migration behaviors of the additives in PP were investigated depending on various aging conditions such as high temperature, ultraviolet and complex conditions. The migration behaviors of PP were characterized by using a contact angle analyzer and a X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS), and an atomic force microscope (AFM). |
