In this study, a poly(amine-quinone) was synthesized by reaction of 4,4'-diaminodiphenyl methane (DDM) and 1,4-benzoquinone. The structure of the poly(amine-quinone) was characterized by means of FT-IR and 1H NMR spectroscopy. The effects of poly(amine-quinone) content on the thermal behaviors, such as cure behaviors, thermal stabilities, glass transition temperature, and cross-linking density, of epoxy systems were investigated by using DSC, TGA, and DMA. The mechanical properties for the systems were determined in terms of the fracture toughness, impact strength, and adhesion strength measurements. As a result, the fracture toughness and impact strength values of the systems was increased with increasing poly(amine-quinone) content. The adhesion strength value of the systems was also increased as the poly(amine-quinone) content increased. |
