제목 Curcumin loaded micelles from acid degradable block copolymers having pendant acetal linkages for anticancer activity in intracellular cancer
초록 Acid degradable curcumin encapsulated micelles were designed using degradable block copolymers having pendant acetal linkages and investigated their triggered intracellular release behavior in cancer cells. The self assembly behavior of formation of micelles is caused by the nature of hydrophilic poly(ethylene glycol) and hydrophobic pendant acetal groups grafted onto poly(hydroxyethyl methacrylate). The corresponding block copolymer exhibited high biocompatibility towards normal fibroblast cell line. Due to high concentration of acidic pH present in the intracellular space of cancer cells, the enhanced anticancer activity was obtained by the destabilization of pendant acetal chains in the core of micelles under pH response. The pH responsive micelles showed high cellular uptake, and high anticancer activity results suggest that the pH responsive degradable block copolymer micelles offer versatility for targeted drug release of hydrophobic drugs in cancer therapy.
