제목 | Understanding batteries using high-energy synchrotron x-rays |
초록 | Lithium-ion batteries have a high degree of hierarchical complexity, ranging from the quantum scale to the product scale. As the hierarchies are interdependent on properties and functionality, a single multifunctional probe that can simultaneously provide multiple pieces of information at different hierarchies is essential to develop economical and safe batteries. In this talk, we present the capability of high-energy synchrotron x-ray scattering, i.e. Compton scattering, as a multifunctional probe of batteries by demonstrating quantum-scale characterization of redox orbitals in electrode materials [1-4] and product-scale mapping of lithium distributions in commercial batteries [5,6].
