pH Responsive Carboxylic Acid Functionalized SBA-15 for Controlled Drug Delivery |

SBA-15 nano valve having high amount of carboxylic acid has been synthesized via surfactant assisted sol-gel methodology and post modification process. Modified SBA-15 has been tailored as a smart pH responsive controlled release system by the insertion of N-[3-(Trimethoxysilyl)propyl]aniline (TMSPA) at the pore opening before extracting the surfactant and further grafted with 3-(triethoxypropyl)succinic anhydride (PTSA) and further hydrolyzed to carboxylic acid in water on the inner surfaces of the pore channels. 5-fluorouracil and famotidine have been loaded in to the modified channels there after β-cyclodextrin has been introduced as the gatekeeper to make the material as pH responsive drug delivery system. The drug delivery has been carried out under invitro condition at a pH 4 and the amount of drug released from the nano valve systems where monitored by UV-Vis spectroscopy under regular intervals. |
