제목 Reinforcement of Wood/PVC composites with organoclay and aminosilane
초록 Eco-friendly wood/PVC/clay composites were prepared by melt blending wood flour, a heavy metal free PVC compound, and an organoclay. . In general, most physical properties of a WPC with PVC matrix are lower than those of corresponding neat PVC because of poor interfacial adhesion between the hydrophilic wood flour and hydrophobic PVC. We used amino silane as a coupling agent to improve interfacial adhesion. Furthermore, to improve the performance of a WPC, a small amount of clay was incorporated as nanosize filler into the WPC. The effects of the clay and silane-treated wood particles were investigated. Physical properties of WPC specimens were investigated by UTM, izod impact tester, DMA, TMA, TGA, and XRD. SEM images for the fracture surfaces of the WPCs confirmed the role of the coupling agents by showing strong interfacial adhesion between wood particles and the polymer matrix. The performance of the WPC was considerably improved by incorporating the aminosilane and the organoclay.
