제목 Development of New Nonlinear Organic Ionic Crystals by Anionic Engineering with Halogen Substituents.
초록 We synthesize new nonlinear optical (NLO) organic ionic crystals based on 2-(4-hydroxystyryl)-1-methylquinolinium cation (OHQ) with counter anions having halogen substituents for OHQ-1, OHQ-2. OHQ-1 and OHQ-2 crystals exhibit perfect second-order NLO response due to simultaneous electron-withdrawing inductive and electron-donating resonance effect of halogen substituents. In particular, we find that molecular nonlinearity of OHQ-1 is as high as that of OHQ-T which organic ionic crystal with 4-methylbenzenesulfonate counter anion (T) developed recently. In the hirshfield surface analysis, it is revealed that halogen substituent of the anion changes the π-π interactions and hydrogen bonds and consequently, enhances the molecular nonlinearity. Finally, in THz generation measurements, the 0.39-mm-thick OHQ-C crystal exhibits 27 and 1.5 times higher peak-to-peak THz field than 1.0-mm-thick ZnTe and 0.35-mm-thick OHQ-T crystals.
