A new type of phosphonated PI were synthesized from acrylated PI with ethylene glycol methaphosphoric acid (EGMP) using UV curing oven. A series of composite membranes with varying amount of phosphonated POSS were prepared by altering the weight ratio of POSS. Composite membranes were doped with phosphoric acid (H3PO4). The result of phosphonated PI was confirmed by Fourier Transform Infrared Spectroscopy (FT-IR, DIGILAB Co.). We also investigated thermal stability using Thermal Gravimetric Analysis (TGA, TA instrument, Q-50) and the morphology of membranes was observed by X-ray Diffraction (XRD, Rigaku horizontal X-ray diffractometer) for the composite polybenzimidazole membranes. The conductivity depending on the temperature, the acid contents of phosphoric acid (H3PO4) and the weight percent (wt.%) of POSS was analyzed with Impedence Analyzer (Autolab Impedence Analyzer). |
