Polymer-nanoclay hybrid by surfae initiated polymerization for barrier layer coating on plastic substrate for flexible display |
초록 |
Transparent plastic substrates with excellent barrier properties are required for flexible display devices. Organic-inorganic hybrid coating was attempted in this work to secure the barrier properties as well as optical properties. Na+-MMT and epoxy acrylate were used as clay and polymer, respectively. Inorganic clay was organically modified by 2-(methylacryloyloxyl)ethyl(4-benzoylbenzyl)dimethyl ammonium bromide (MDAB) by using cationic exchange reaction. MDAB was synthesized and used as intercalating agent to enhance compatibility with polymer and also as a photo-initiator to induce exfoliate structure of nanoclay by using Surface initiated polymerization (SIP). SIP process was effective for uniform dispersion of clay in polymer matrix and for inducing exfoliation of clay chemically. Barrier properties such as WVTR and OTR were decreased maintaining optical properties. |
