However, the ensuing acidic byproducts resulting from degradation can generate vigorous inflammatory reactions, often leading to clinical failure. Here we present a novel approach to prevent acid-induced inflammatory responses associated with biodegradable polymers, such as PLGA and PLLA, by using modified nanoparticles of magnesium hydroxide that neutralize the acidic environment.
