Many people need to see something to believe in it. Likewise, the notion is that larger is better. However, nature tends to disagree, at least where life is involved. Much of the chemistry performed within nature is accomplished by the tiniest of life forms : bacteria. The diverse and complex metabolisms used by our microscopic neighbors offer many benefits to man-kind, even some potential answers to issues facing us today, such as the energy crisis and pollution. My tak will be a basic introduction to these marvelous organisms, their metabolic diversity and some current green technologiesthat use them. |
