Thermal stability of cross-linked EVA as a encapsulate materials for photovoltaic module manufacturing process |

In this study, the thermal stability behaviour of cross-linked Ethylene -co- vinyl acetate(EVA) materials was evaluated. The EVA are commonly used as the encapsulation polymer of photovoltaic(PV) modules to protect the sensitive parts of the module such as from the exterior environment. For many PV module types, encapsulation properties are an important factor by means of lifetime limiting. Important chemical properties of materials used in PV module packaging are presented that cross-linked EVA samples are characterized by gel content measurements (Xylene test, cross-linking test). Phase transition and thermal stability parameters of cross-linked EVA materials have been studied by employing thermo gravimetric analysis (TGA) and differential scanning calorimetric (DSC). Cross-linked analysis indicates that EVA material has a gel content by 90 percentage. Thermal analysis indicates that cross-linked EVA material shows a increased thermal stability. |
