Thermogels are hydrogels which undergo sol-to-gel transition when the temperature increases. Because of the delicate balance between hydrophilicity and hydrophobicity of polymer conformation, temperature-sensitive hydrogels have a unique property which can be utilized in applications such as drug delivery system, adhesion prevention, injectable tissue engineering, embolization, 3D cell culture scaffold. Recently in biomedical field, in situ formed thermogels have been considered as potential materials for biomedical applications. A thermogel system has many advantages. In particular, this can offer a simple implantation method which can not need to surgical procedure. Because of non-invasive feature, thermogel can mimic the 3D living organism conditions and offer proper environments. |
