제목 Enhancing the chemical stability of VO2 nanoparticles by the SiO2 coating for smart window application
초록 Vanadium dioxide (VO2) is a representative thermochromic material that can be applied in smart window. Smart windows coated with VO2 can control the solar heat (in the near infrared region) at transparency condition so it is efficient to reduce energy consumption. However, the chemical stability of VO2 has to be enhanced to apply in smart window. Especially, VO2 is hard to endure oxidation and acid condition.
In this study, we reported VO2 @ SiO2 core-shell composites that has chemical stability such as anti-oxidation and acid-resistance. Firstly, VO2 nanoparticles are prepared by simple precipitation method under mild condition, then thin and uniform SiO2 shell was formed on the VO2 nanoparticles by the modified stober method. The crystal structure and phase transition temperature of VO2 @ SiO2 core-shell composite were confirmed by the XRD and DSC analyses. The oxidative stability of VO2 @ SiO2 core-shell composite has been verified through the oxidative stability test under 80oC and 80% humidity. Also, to evaluate the acid resistance, it was exposed to acid solution and observe aspect of change according to time. The anti-oxidation and acid-resistance test showed that the VO2 @ SiO2 core-shell composite maintains their structure for a long time compared to control VO2 itself, indicating improved chemical stability.
