The biomass based polymers are drawing attention as the sustainable materials under the necessity of solving the depletion of fossil fuels, excessive industrial waste and greenhouse effect. A plenty of research is carried out about the biodegradable polymer to replace the petroleum based polymers. Especially, polylactide has been studied because of the excellent properties and transparency among the biodegradable polymers. In this research, the polylactide was blended with ZnO and it was modified with hexadecyltrimethoxysilane to improve its super-hydrophobicity and gain dispersibility. The polylactide ultrafine fibers containing modified ZnO (m-ZnO) were successfully fabricated using and electrospinning process. A morphological change in the ultrafine fibers on incorporation of the m-ZnO was observed. The change of surface wettability of the polylactide fabric with m-ZnO was investigated. The differences of single fiber mechanical properties with change of m-ZnO content also measured. |
