In the lithium battery industry, solid polymer electrolytes (SPEs) have been considered as a candidate to substitute conventional liquid electrolytes showing a low lithium-ion transference number (< 0.5) and Li dendrite growth, to develop a safe and useful electrolyte. Furthermore, single ion conducting SPEs, where anions are covalently bonded to polymer, thereby only lithium ions are mobile, leading to a high transference number. Here, we synthesize lithium single-ion conductors, in which robust silica aerogel having high surface area as a matrix is covalently cross-linked with either poly(acrylic acid) and poly bis(trifluoromethanesulfonyl)imide (TFSI) having lithium countercations. Their chemical structure and ionic conductivity are investigated using FTIR and AC impedance spectroscopy. |
