Influence of Monomer and Solvent Ratio on Specific Surface Areaof Styrene-Divinylbenzene Beads |

In this work, porous resin beads of poly(styrene-co-divinylbenzene) were prepared by suspension polymerization. The porous beads could be made of the crosslinking agent(divinylbenzene) and the porogenic agent(solvents). Surface characteristics of the poly(styrene-co-divinylbenzene) were analyzed by scanning electron microscope (SEM) and Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FT-IR). It was found that the pore size distribution depends on the various compositions of divinylbenzene (DVB) and solvents. Also, it was confirmed that the specific surface area of porous beads increased with increasing the concentrations of divinylbenzene and solvents. |
