제목 A Simplistic Approach to Fabrication of Amphiphilic Copolymer-Templated Mesoporous Silica Nanostructure for Mechanically Robust and Hydrophobic Coating
초록 A new functional amphiphilic copolymer was synthesized via free radical polymerization of an amphiphilic precursor, UAN, and MMA followed by addition of TEOS as a source of inorganic nanoparticles. Spin-coating of the hybrid sol on glass template followed by sequential annealing at varied temperatures yielded a thermally stable and mechanically robust I-O hybrid coating. Calcination was carried out to remove the amphiphilic polymer template to give rise to a mesoporous structure. After treatment of the templates using Chlorotrimethylsilane (CTMS) solution, hydrophobicity of the films significantly improved as evidenced by the water contact angle measurements. ASTM pencil hardness test showed that the films were mechanically robust and scratch resistant. SEM and AFM analysis was also carried out to establish the surface morphologies of the coating.
