Applications of ordered mesoporous materials for syngas conversions |

Highly ordered mesoporous metal oxides such as CoMOx or FeMOx (M = Al or Zr) were synthesized by using a hard template of KIT-6 and applied for CO hydrogenation reaction. To stabilize the mesoporous structures even under reductive conditions, some structural promoters such as Al2O3 and ZrO2 were partially introduced to suppress the aggregation of Co3O4 as well as to easily form the active iron carbide phases. The thermally stable spinel-type metal aluminates formed were responsible for an enhanced catalytic and structural stability, which were verified by using X-ray absorption fine structures (XAFS) analysis as well as surface characterization tools. In addition, the hydrophobic surface formation by phosphorous incorporation on the mesoporous CoMOx further enhanced catalytic performances by partially forming metal phosphate phases. |
