Metamaterials are designed materials with properties different from the naturally occurring materials. Gold nanoparticles due to the surface plasmon resonance absorption constitute a large ongoing research field. The property of the nanoparticle is found to depend on the shape and size of particles. The previous research on designing ultra-smooth, spherical Gold nanoparticles that are monodisperse were prepared by the procedure recent work. Here in this study, the pre-synthesized gold nanoparticles were coated with silica. It is to the knowledge that by manipulating the distance spacing of gold nanoparticles within an assembly through the use of silica shell thickness, various properties can be varied including; electrical and magnetic properties. In this study, the varying the thickness of the silica shell surrounding the gold nanoparticle has been focused. Variation on the thickness of the silica shell would be one method to control gap between the gold nanoparticles. |
