제목 | Studies toward efficient conversion of biomass into furanic platform chemicals |
초록 | The growing concern about shortage of traditional energy sources is making biomass-derived resources more attractive. 5-Hydroxymethylfurfural (HMF) is one of the promising green platform chemicals corresponding to those already established for fossil fuel-based ones. But it has multiple issues associated with its large-scale production. We have previously reported facile synthesis of 5-acetoxymethylfurfural (AMF) which can be used as a dependable alternative to HMF. AMF possesses privileged properties arising from its less hydrophilic acetoxymethyl group instead of the hydroxymethyl group of HMF, leading to practical separation and purification. Herein, we report another synthetic approach for 5-acetoxymethylfurfural (AMF) with high selectivity and good yields via microwave-assisted dehydration of monosaccharides under acidic conditions. Successful functionalization of it into several value-added furanic derivatives such as FDCA, DHMF, and HMFA will be also presented. |
