Recently, diverse functionalized mesoporous silica nanoparticles (MSNs) using polymers, dendrimers or large molecules as capping agents have been subjected to great attention for drug delivery materials or sensors. However, MSNs containing peptides as the capping agents have not been reported. Therefore, we prepared fluorescent hybrid system (FHS) for protease, composed of polyarginine capped MSNs fused with conjugated polymer dots (CPdots) by electrostatic interaction. Trypsin is an important digestive enzyme fabricated in the pancreas. Particularly, trypsin is one of enzymatic proteins degrading selectively peptide, such as lysine and arginine. CPdots were released from MSNs containing anthracene via degradation of polyarginine linker by trypsin. FHS was able to give fluorescence signal change via prevention of energy transfer between anthracene (energy donor) included in the pores of MSNs and CPdots by the presence of trypsin |
