The microporous CF was obtained by self-foaming of agarose polymer at high temperature without using any templates. The gases generated during the calcination of agarose polymer pellet induced the self- formation of micro pores on the carbon. The different applied pressure for the pellet formation and its effect on the improvement of porosity of the CF was systematically investigated. The surface area of CF increased based on increasing the applied pressure from 4 metric ton (MT), 8MT to 11MT. It is also interesting that, the surface area was greatly enhanced by further activating of CF at 800, 900, and 1000 oC. Additionally, the activated CF was also used as a substrate for the preparation of CF/Co3O4 nanocomposites. Finally, the CF and CF/Co3O4 nanocomposite has been directly applied as a binder-free and current collector-free electrode for LIB anode. Due to the presence of high porosity, the CF and CF/Co3O4 exhibited a high specific capacity and excellent cycle stability in LIB anode. |
