Since the incidence in the Fukushima, the issues for removal of radioactive materials have been attracted by many researchers. Although there are many efforts to remove the radioactive materials, the removal using general methods are still challenging because the efficiency is very low. Herein, we introduce the micro-magnetic particle to remove the radioactive material effectively. The magnetic particles were prepared by chemical reaction of polyvinyl alcohol and iron ion. The chemical reaction induced the crosslinking in the materials, and then, it provided the water-insoluble hydrophilic particle. In addition, the size of particle was controlled using W/O emulsion in microfluidics system. This system provided the uniformity of particle and micron-scaled magnetic particle. To evaluate the efficiency of cesium removal, Prussian blue (PB) was decorated on the surface of the magnetic particle. |
