제목 Effects of calcination atmosphere on spherical particles for optical transparent Y2O3 ceramics
초록 Fully dense polycrystalline Y2O3 is considered as a promising transparent material because of its high melting point, high corrosion resistance and broad range of transparency. For this reason, the fabrication of transparent Y2O3 ceramics has been developed by many researchers for laser host materials as well as infrared-domes. It is well known that the use of ultrafine, mono-sized and low-agglomerated powders is helpful for sintering ability which is related to high transparent Y2O3 ceramics. Accordingly, a variety of wet-chemical powder synthesis has been reported for many years. However, it is still required to study on the relationship among the initial powder, sintering behavior and spectral properties. In this work, we investigated the effect of residual pore in the Y2O3 powder on the sintering behavior and optical properties for transparent ceramics by SEM, XRD, pycnometer, UV/Vis spectroscopy and FT-IR.
