제목 Preparation and Characterization of TiC Coated Carbon Fiber
초록 Carbon fibers are widely used as reinforcements in composite materials because of their excellent properties. But carbon fiber exhibits a very poor oxidation resistance even at temperatures as low as 400℃, so the application of the carbon fiber-reinforced composites as high-temperature material has been mostly limited to inert atmospheres in order to prevent the oxidation of the carbon fiber. In this work, TiC coating on the carbon fiber was obtained, through the infiltration of a TiO2 sol onto carbon fiber by dip coating method and they were carried out in a furnace under an argon flow at above 1400℃. The crystalline structure and morphology of the as-prepared TiC coating was measured by XRD and SEM. TGA was carried out to investigate the oxidation behavior under static air.
