Stable Superhydrophobic Surfaces Using Micro-Nano Hierarchical Structures by Solution-Processed Silica Nanoparticles (NPs) |

In this study, we demonstrate a simple spray-coating method for the preparation of stable superhydrophobic surface using micro-nano hierarchical structures. Superhydrophobic surfaces were fabricated by mixture of silica NPs and organic crosslinkers. Silica NPs were chosen to fabricate hierarchical structures and to study the effect of the surface roughness, affecting superhydrophobicity. The NPs were then modified to have the hydrophobicity using octadecylmethoxysilane (OTMS). We used tetraethylorthosilicate (TEOS) to enhance superhydrophobic surface stability. The resulting coated surfaces displayed a highly water contact angle and low sliding angle as well as the spray-coated superhydrophobic films were stable |
