제목 Low temperature co-firing process of solid oxide fuel cells with trace amounts of copper
초록 8 mol% Yttria-stabilized zirconia (8YSZ) is widely used as an electrolyte material at high temperature of a solid oxide fuel cell (SOFC), but its poor sinterability leads to complication of the cell manufacturing process. Many studies are concentrating on improving the sinterability of 8YSZ electrolyte and performance of 8YSZ-based cell by changing the dopant or adding trace amounts of metal oxides. The effect of the trace of CuO on the performance of 8 YSZ based SOFC has been investigated. It was found that addition of a trace amount of CuO not only accelerated the densification of the YSZ electrolyte by acting as a sintering aid but also increased the amount of oxygen deficiency in the YSZ electrolyte. Furthermore, it shows the possibility of simultaneous firing at low temperature by adding trace amount of copper. As a result, a low temperature co-firing process of YSZ-based SOFCs is developed by adding small amounts of Cu to the YSZ electrolyte and the anode, respectively. The cell is normally manufactured without strain or crack.
