In this work, mesoporous carbons (CMK-3) for catalyst support in fuel cells were prepared by conventional templating method using SBA-15. CMK-3 was treated with different hydrogen peroxide concentrations i.e., 15, 30, 40, and 50 wt.% at 333 K for 24 h. And then Pt-Ru as catalyst was deposited onto the treated CMK-3 surfaces (S-CMK-3) using chemical reduction method. It was found that the highest activity was shown in Pt-Ru/30S-CMK-3 sample. Such an enhanced electrochemical performance was related to higher Pt-Ru distribution onto the 30S-CMK-3 and could also provide the enhanced utilization of Pt-Ru catalysts, leading to improved performance of the fuel cells. |
