An easy template-free approach to fabricate of pure carbon microspheres has been achieved via direct pyrolysis of as-prepared polyaromatic hydrocarbons, including polynaphthalene and polypyrene. These as-prepared polyaromatic developed by adopting aromatic hydrocarbons (AHC) as raw materials, anhydrous zinc chloride as Friedel-Crafts catalyst, and chloromethyl methyl ether as crosslinker. Experimental results show that these as-constructed methylene (–CH2–) crosslinking “bridge” between phenyl rings provide simultaneously to theirs hierarchical porous polyaromatic precursor, and thus achieve three-dimensionally (3D) interconnected micro-, meso- and macroporous network inheritability during carbonization. These hierarchical porous carbon aggregated by mono-spherical carbon spheres exhibit faster ions transport/diffusion behaviour and larger utilization of surface area in electric double layer capacitors. |
