제목 Preparation of N-substituted poly(2-cyano-1,4-phenylene terephthalamide) (CYPPTA) with ionic side groups
초록 Aromatic polyamides represent an important class of polymeric materials from both the academic and the industrial points of view. In this study, well-defined poly(2-cyano-1,4-phenylene terephthalamide) (CYPPTA) was synthesized via low temperature solution polycondensation. Then, N-substitution of amide group of CYPPTA with 1,3-propanesultone was performed in order to increase the solubility of CYPPTA in an organic solvent. N-substituted CYPPTA were prepared by introducing ionic 1,3-propanesulfonate group. N-substituted aromatic polyamide having a high percentage of side groups seems to have more disordered structure and is more soluble in common organic solvents. Modified CYPPTA were characterized by NMR, titration, and FT-IR. Films of these modified CYPPTA have a good potential in membrane applications such as filters or fuel-cell materials. Increasing the ionic content resulted in a more conductive material.
