In this study CCS(Carbon capture & store) technology was investigated. Particularly, liquefied natural gas (LNG) were used for the economic production of biodiesel from the microalgal biomass since LNG combusted gas contain mainly CO2 and scarcely contain NOx or SOX. Chlorella sorokiniana, a heat-tolerant microalga, was cultured autotrophically in outdoor tubular photobioreactor in spring/fall and summer. Firstly assessment of the biomass production and photosynthetic activity using PAM(Pulse amplitude modulation) was performed under two temperature conditions (23℃, 36℃) in laboratory-scale. Scale-up cultivation using 25L closed photobioreactor was performed in in outdoor conditions under photoautotrophic condition. As a result, C. sorokiniana showed high tolerance to flue gas and high temperature. In summer, the cell exhibited the remarkable lipid content (>35% of dry biomass) under N-starvation conditions to accelerate an intercellular oil accumulation. |
