In recent years, a new greenhouse gas CF4 is emitted to the environment that must be removal for healthy environment. Among few ways of CF4 removal, electrochemical way offers simple and cost less. Reductive removal of CF4 is more favored due to polymerization during oxidative removal. In the present focus, low valent reductive mediator was selected and utilized to CF4 removal application. At a first step, electrochemical reduction of [Co(II)(CN)5]3-, [Ni(II)(CN)4]2-, [Cu(II)(OH)4]2-, and [Co(II)(OH)4]2 were studied and optimized The CF4 removal was performed out under optimized conditions using electro-scrubbing with online FTIR gas analyzer. The different mediator precursors, [Co(II)(CN)5]3-, [Ni(II)(CN)4]2-, [Cu(II)(OH)4]2-, and [Co(II)(OH)4]2-, were used and the electroscrubbing results showed that the electrogenerated Co1+ or [Co(II)(OH)4]2- precursor effectively degraded up to 99.25% of the CF4. |
